Melbye Enters the Finnish Market with Strategic Partner Sonepar

Melbye is currently a major supplier to critical infrastructure in the Nordic region, with Norway and Sweden being the main markets. As of 2024, Melbye's history since 1907 will also include Finland as a new market.

"We have long regarded Finland as a highly interesting market. While we have previously delivered to individual projects, we are now taking a significant step by entering Finland with a partner. Our new agreement with our long-term partner Sonepar further strengthens our confidence in an exciting journey into a new market," says CEO of Melbye Group, Vivi Nyseter-Østby.

Melbye provides comprehensive solutions for critical infrastructure, supplying materials for major transmission and fibre projects across the Nordic region. Additionally, Melbye offers all the necessary tools and innovative solutions for various tasks, from hand tools to cutting-edge solutions within wells and channels.

"With our 100-year history, Melbye has played a significant role in building up transmission networks in Norway and Sweden, and we actively contributed to the fiber expansion in Sweden. We now recognize that many of our solutions and expertise are relevant to several customers in Finland. Therefore, we have decided to hire a dedicated business development manager in Finland," says Vivi.

Melbye and Sonepar have a longstanding relationship and are already partners in Sweden and Norway. Kaarina Sillanpää, Melbye's first employee in Finland, shares her positive experience starting with the new employer.

"Our collaboration with Sonepar has been highly rewarding, marking an exciting beginning at Melbye. The trust we've built with a major wholesaler, who shares our ambition for growth in Finland, is a significant acknowledgment. We believe and hope that this is just the beginning," says Kaarina.

Melbye serves customers both through partners like Sonepar and by directly delivering to projects across various segments. The company currently has subsidiaries and sales operations in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and the UK, where transmission, fibre, wells, and channels form the majority of revenue.
